From the photos I've seen from this race, he ran the boxier Pontiac Grand Prix this time around. 9. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 09.15.2018 - 9:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 9-12: oil on track Caution 2: Lap 21-24: Caution 3: Lap 80-87: #22,43,90 accident turn 4 10. Yarborough's Chevrolet wouldn't have the same success his Pontiac did back in February though as a blown engine put him on the sidelines in the opening laps, resulting in a last place finish. Yarborough was just the first of many engine failures on this day. This 400 started early in the morning in this era but the Florida heat had already moved in and it cooked a lot of motors over the course of this race. 11. Foyt) As Aldo noted back in post seven Supertex entered this race and initially qualified his Monte Carlo in sixth place. However after qualifying he blew a motor going through the trioval and that resulted in a crash that wiped out the Chevrolet, the crew attempted repairs but with no way to fix it and no backup car Foyt and his team withdrew from the race. The Fourth of July wouldn't be a total loss for Foyt though as he still ran the IMSA race, pairing with Hurley Haywood in the #6 Henn's T-Bird Swap Shop Porsche 935 to win the overnight Paul Revere 250 that preceded this race. 12. zuel660 posted: 06.18.2019 - 8:29 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Baker's final Cup win was also the first Cup points victory for the new-for-'83 Ford T-Bird, fittingly captured by long time FoMoCo campaigners, the Wood Brothers. 13. myself posted: 01.21.2020 - 1:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Nice fact in #12. 14. The same with Bouchard. However, Buddy Baker chose to draft and ended up coasting to the win when Labonte ran out of fuel coming to the white flag. Anyone that has watched racing for a while knows that you use more fuel being out front than when you stay behind the front runner and draft. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
