Nobody else is close, although had Davey Allison not died so young he might have joined them. Earnhardt only squeeked out two June race wins at MIS and never won an August MIS race. Maybe because MIS tends to reward a smooth driving style more so than other tracks and it didn't fit Earnhardt? Same thing with Dover and Earnhardt to a slightly less extent. You could argue that their smooth driving style and the torque curve of the Ford engine helped Pearson and Elliott to a lot wins at MIS. However Cale wasn't the smoothest of drivers and had only two of his eight wins driving Mercs. What is strange is that at a Ford track like MIS used to before the COT, a Bud Moore car never won a race. 3. myself posted: 01.24.2012 - 2:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (3) 2. The only was that would work is if Ulrich bought Potter's ride after qualifying, which would make Potter a DC, not a DNQ. 6. I also got a good look on YouTube since he was starting next to the King. 9. myself posted: 02.26.2021 - 10:38 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Crying shame Cale didn't run for the championship from '81-'84. He'd have gotten at least 1 more. 10. Tarheel posted: 02.26.2021 - 12:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 224 miles of green racing and the margin of victory was still less than one second. Tracks like Michigan had a lot better racing when the cars were far less aerodynamic. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
