this and the previous 2 races really propelled Bobby to the title, 3
wins in a row and a doubled points lead.

This was Geoff Bodine's best finish in the 1983 season. He had a winning
car in a bunch of races but always had trouble finishing. In the races
where he had no trouble, he was always up front.

This was Cecil "Flash" Gordon's nextt-to-last career start. In his last
competitive outing, Cecil came home 15th. It was his final race in his
famous #24.

Cecil would return for one race in 1985 after this, although it would
basically be a start and park.

TNN aired this race on "American Sports Cavalcade." It had to be one of
the first Cup races they aired in any capacity, the channel had launched
in March 1983.

Driver Change - Mike Potter qualified but was replaced by Tommy Gale for
race day, likely after Gale missed the field in his own car.
