He tore some ligaments and had surgery on it at the end of the next season. 3. When Cale came back down the track, Harry Gant clipped his front end. 4. Sébastien posted: 02.14.2009 - 6:27 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Was Geoff Bodine injured or fired or something ? Just wondering.. I know cheating went on, but, how much does everyone really know how much? 10. Mile501 posted: 01.06.2018 - 9:27 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) That is an interesting observation, Spen. If we look at Terry Labonte's results throughout 1983, he was remarkably consistent but rarely contended for wins--somewhat similar to Jamie McMurray in the recently completed 2017 season. There were 30 races in 1983. Terry Labonte finished either 4th, 5th, or 6th in exactly half of them (15 races). In all, he encountered trouble in 8 races (including 7 DNFs, plus 1 race where he was running many laps down at the finish), 1 win, and he finished between 4th and 12th in every single one of the remaining races. 14. What made him so good was that he was so consistent for a long period of time. His first top-10 in points came in his rookie year of 1979 and his final top-10 was in 2003, his 2nd-to-last full-time season. That's a span of 25 years. He won 22 times in those 25 years but averaged 14 top 10s a season. Terry won 2 titles, but never led over 1000 laps in a season. Based on the laps he led, a reasonable expectation would've been 25 career wins, which he came very close to. 15. The donnie allison deal was only supposed to be a once race deal. He offered Rusty to drive the car in Atlanta be he declined and donnie continued to drive the car that weekend. But Rusty got the full time ride in 1984. 16.
