Despite this humble start the then-reigning ASA champion would go on to win six road course races throughout his career with wins here at Riverside and later schedule additions Watkins Glen and Sonoma. 9. Labonte's car owner Billy Hagan had a road racing team at the time and Terry took advantage of that by sharpening his road course skills co-driving a Chevrolet Camaro with Hagan and Gene Felton in both the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring earlier in the year to prepare for this race, looks like his extracurricular activity behind the wheel paid off well as he not only won this race but scored GTO class wins at both of those Floridian endurance classics. This was the first of two wins for Labonte on his way to the 1984 Cup championship. 10. rateus posted: 02.07.2021 - 2:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Driver Change - Benny Parsons handled qualifying for Neil Bonnett as well as driving most of the race for him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
