Jim Southard makes his final Winston Cup start and his only one of 1985. 16. 52 posted: 05.31.2016 - 9:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Harry Gant lost consecutive races at rockingham by a total of a foot and a half 17. br7484 posted: 02.08.2018 - 8:08 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) With 6 Buicks, 15 Chevrolets, 1 Chrysler, 1 Dodge, 9 Fords, 2 Oldsmobiles and 6 Pontiacs this was the last Cup race to have 7 car makes in the starting lineup. For the rest of 1985 there were some races with 6 makes in the field with 1 Dodge or 1 or 2 Chryslers, but never both makes in the same lineup. The fall Dover race in 1985 marked the last Cup race with 6 car makes, and the fall Dover race in 1992 was the last Cup race with 5 makes. While there have been rumors of new manufacturers coming to NASCAR, it would take 4 new manufacturers to get 7 makes in a starting lineup again, which is incredibly unlikely. 18. Long live the memories of the Rock. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
