The winshield was shattered and there was damage to the roof and the dashboard but Earnhardt was fine except for gashes on his nose and chin. 2. He scored a respectable 10th place finish in Hoss Elllington's Chevrolet. 3. myself posted: 03.14.2007 - 8:38 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) To this day, I'm still pissed @ CBS for switching back & forth from this race to a stupid PGA event!!!! 4. Any time a Ford wins and your precious Dale was out to lunch you always come up with your cheating nonsense. 10. jp posted: 05.23.2014 - 11:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) most, he did not flip, but slugged the wall pretty good going through turn 4 after a tire cut down. 11. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 07.27.2014 - 10:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 1-8: green/yellow start Caution 2: Lap 17-23: #2,11,77 spin turn 2 Caution 3: Lap 26-32: #7,44 accident frontstretch Caution 4: Lap 35-38: #0 slow on track Caution 5: Lap 54-59: #00 spin backstretch Caution 6: Lap 94-101: #66 accident frontstretch Caution 7: Lap 163-166: #5 accident turn 4 12. Bill started back in the field several times and always drove to the front. One time he started the equivalent around 21st (with lapped cas) and overtook the whole field. About the only time Bill lost on a super speedway in '85 was when something broke... Ryan how does it feel to go through life butt-hurt? 13. He just blew a tire, then hit the wall in turn 4. Came across the track and spun in the grass, and came to a stop in the tri-oval grass. 14. zuel660 posted: 05.09.2018 - 10:47 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ron Bouchard returns to the site of his only Cup win, and leads 5 laps en route to a very solid 3rd place finish. 15. They wanted to hire an Indy Car driver with names like, FOyt , Andretti and Unser being thrown around. But they ran into a problem when CART's race at Michigan got moved back a week and they were left with out a driver SOURCE: Pocono Summer 500 broadcast. 16. The reason why CBS was going between golf and the race was because the ace was rain delayed so it went well over it's time limit. And to be fair Golf got more ratings and was more popular at the time. Can't really blame the network for doing what's best for them. 17. It was won by Phill Blackmar his first of three PGA Tour wins. Feel one in a playoff over Jodie Mudd and Dan Pohl. The tournament is still playing to this day it's know known as the Travellers Championship. Phil is currently a Golf Channel reporter. 18. zuel660 posted: 08.15.2019 - 10:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Only time Bobby Allison ran a Chevy in '85 after his split with DiGard. Foyt was late to get to his car before the start of this race and found himself running down pit lane to get to his well-qualified #14 when he realized the command to start the engines was coming a lot sooner than he expected. Foyt broke out in a full sprint but didn't make it in time although he leaped into his car seconds after the command so he was still ready for the start. Once he got behind the wheel he'd turn in a great run. 21. zuel660 posted: 03.30.2020 - 5:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Buddy Arrington qualified an impressive 8th, getting some pre-race tv time on CBS, & managed to lead a lap before winding up 16th at the finish. 22.
