It was also his best finish of the 1985 season, racing only 5 races. 2. myself posted: 02.15.2007 - 4:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah. Alan drove a Hardees' car painted identical to Cale's. It was very confusing to watch. 3. His car slipped into reverse or something and went backward after a stop, a crew member for the #11 behind the car propped himself up on the spoiler and dodged disaster as the #11 bumped the also pitting Junior Johnson teammate #12 of Neil Bonnett before getting going straight and rejoining the race he'd go on to win. 6. After dominating the season beginning at Talladega in early May to Darlington on Labor Day weekend, the wheels fell off for Awesome Bill and team #9. Of the last eight races in '85, Bill had five finishes of 12th or worse with the saving grace being the Charlotte race in October. Thankfully, Bill would have his day in the sun happen in 1988. But, yeah, 1985 will always be one of the greatest what if seasons in NASCAR history for Bill not winning the title. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
