Contingency money. Full time drivers earned this extra money above the purse and it was counted in the winnings. NASCAR quit counting this money at some point. That was all the from all the small stickers on the cars back then. An example would be a driver with an STP sticker on his car. Didn't matter if he used the product or not. Finish in the top 5 and get $1000. It was a cheap way for a company to get their company name on race cars.
