If not for weird & frequent circumstances like these, Cale would be 2nd on the all-time wins list & have at least one more championship (80'). 2. That caution came out when Jeff McDuffie spun, as expected his car was one of his J.D's #70s with the 7 peeled off. Not entirely inconcievable, but are we sure it's the same guy? 11. gary24fan posted: 05.09.2017 - 11:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Managed to get ahold of an entry list for this race, perhaps some fill-in info for you on the DNQ's. Jon Fontana did not have a car number listed and Buddie Boys was not on the entry list: Driver # Sponsor Owner Car Johnny Coy, Jr. 13 Coy Racing Jeff Halverson Chevrolet Tommie Crozier 85 Universal Steel Bill Leonard Pontiac Gary Fedewa 80 Lyke Racing Russell Lyke Buick Jon Fontana Thomas Racing Ronnie Thomas Pontiac Jerry Holden 48 Lucky J Coal Jerry Holden Chevrolet Maurice Randall 93 Randall Racing Brenda Randall Chrysler Gary Sowell 87 Sowell Racing Buck Baker Buick Also listed were the following. I'll let you decide whether to list these as "withdrawals" or not: Earle Canavan 01 Deist Safety Betty Canavan Oldsmobile Don Hume 23 Dick Bahre Chevrolet Tommy Houston 32 Shadowfax Paul Ingle Chevrolet Ronnie Thomas 41 Thomas Racing Ronnie Thomas Chevrolet Mario Bazali 60 Mario's Body Shop Mario Bazali Buick Phil Good 76 Good Racing Phil Good Chrysler James A. Parker 87 Parker Racing Buck Baker Buick Just a theory here, since two cars, both numbered 87, were entered by Buck Baker I'm thinking only Gary Sowell showed up. And since Ronnie Thomas seems to have been a WD maybe Jon Fontana attempted in the #41. These are just suppositions on my part however and I have no real proof of this. Three if you count the one that qualified for the race. My theory is that neither Parker nor Sowell got approved by NASCAR so they had Randy drive the car. 14. Dave Despain and Dale Inman were in the STP Pit Communication Center. This was the first cup race at Rockingham after its repave. The new slick surface was unfamiliar to the drivers, and Ken Squier noted at the beginning of the broadcast that speeds were down across the board in practice and qualifying. 15. Also, Jon Fontana numbered #41? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
