Or any other race of 87' for that matter? 4. AIDS is what killed Tim Richmond. 5. Neal posted: 03.09.2009 - 12:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Dave Marcis had a top 10 qualifying effort but suffered damage in an early crash and finished 18th. Neil Bonnett had to get a relief driver late in the race after being overcome by exhaust fumes. 6. clevelandfan87 posted: 03.10.2009 - 12:33 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think that Benny Parsons drove a green Folger's decaf paint scheme in this race 7. Schrader would finish 10th in the 75 car after having a soild day in the 90 for Junie Donlavey, until an accident derailed his good run! 8. Him and Bob Jenkins were talking about Terry Labonte's crew and how fast their pit stops were. Nueber said "Jeff Hammond and all those guys did a great job." However, Hammond was not Labonte's crew chief in 1987. Tim Brewer was his crew chief. Hammond moved on to the #17 Tide Ride with Darrell Waltrip. a little while after that, you see Hammond pushing Darrell Waltrip's car to the garage. I wonder if Nueber realized the error he made. 9. Yes, clevelandfan, BP ran a green Folger's Monte Carlo in this race (thanks, ESPN Classic, for showing this race instead of the 30th or 40th airing of the 1995 or 1999 Goody's 500! Epic races, but how about one we HAVEN'T seen?) On a related note, SPEED Channel is bringing back NASCAR Classics...sort of. They won't be showing the pre-2000 CBS broadcasts (I hope there aren't any issues between CBS and SPEED), but they'll have past FOX-broadcast races from the upcoming track on the current schedule on Thursdays at Noon Eastern (check speedtv.com for more) I think the 2006 spring race is being shown this week. 10. When Richmond came back, they both ran the primary Folgers sponsorship until Watkins Glen, when The #35 car was switched to the green Folgers Decaf colors. This was the first race after Richmond's health forced him to leave the series good, andit wasn't long after the #35 was switched back to the burgundy Folgers colors. 13. robby burns posted: 04.14.2015 - 11:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Dale Earnhardt wins the 1987 Busch 500 in that sweet #3 Wrangler Jeans Chevy it was his 9th win of the 1987 season. After starting 6th and leading 8 laps early on Dale Earnhardt takes the lead on lap 90 and leads 407 of the final 411 laps including the final 152 and defeats Rusty Wallace by 5.5 seconds this race for Earnhardt standard went smoothly. He ran the race with a sore back after getting in a crash with Micheal Andretti in a IROC race at Michigan. 14. Less than a minute of research would have told you that Richmond was suffering from the effects of AIDS and missed much of the season. Honestly, you "johnny come lately" fanboys need to do some research on NASCAR or go the f**k away. Preferably the later. 15. He went out of the race not long afterwards when a blown tire sent him into the turn 2 wall, putting him out of the race early. 18. Jimnsimforever posted: 12.03.2018 - 2:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Clayton, you are right about this race, Jeff Hammond was Waltrips crew chief and Tim Brewer was Terry Labonte's crew chief. Although that was only the case for the last half of the 1987 season. For the first part of the season Waddell Wilson was Darrell Waltrip's crew chief and yes, Jeff Hammond actually was Terry Labonte's crew chief for the first part of the 1987 season. That is probably why Nuber got mixed up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
