Congrats to Dale Earnhardt, Richard Childress, and the #3 Wrangler Jeans Chevrolet team for a job well done. 5. It was not to be, however, as Dale passed him back, and then it rained. 7. Chris posted: 10.16.2012 - 9:35 am Rate this comment: (2) (2) 10 wins for Earnhardt in 21 races!! 8. No Joe Ruttman, Derrike Cope, Ernie Irvan, Mark Stahl, Rick Knoop, Phil Barkdoll, Bown brothers, or any of the Winston West drivers (Riverside-only drivers). 9. autryvilleracefan posted: 02.01.2013 - 9:03 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Richard Petty almost won this race. 10. myself posted: 05.20.2013 - 11:27 am Rate this comment: (2) (3) Too bad the west coast thing didn't last, Steve! 11. nascarman posted: 06.17.2015 - 3:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) WD: 25 / Tim Richmond / Folgers / Rick Hendrick / Chevrolet Richmond's entry was withdrawn Thursday before the race. It was said he had a cold. Rumors had already circulated that Parsons and Richmond would be leaving Hendrick at the end of the year. Richmond then resigned from the team due to his poor health. Ken Schrader had already agreed to drive for Bud Moore in 1988 and prior to the race, Rick Hendrick offered the 25 car to him. 12. After several rounds of drying Nascar sent Dale ahead to test track. Many fans around me thought Dale just got tired of waiting. Still remember it , great stuff , great time! 13. Never knew Schrader had been offered the Bud Moore ride for the '88 season. 15. nascarman posted: 06.11.2017 - 9:21 am Rate this comment: (6) (0) Kerry Earnhardt's first son, Bobby Dale, was born six days prior to this race; meaning this was the first Cup race Dale Earnhardt ran as a grandfather. 16. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 12.25.2017 - 7:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: green/yellow start Caution 2: #12,75,83 accident turn 1 Caution 3: #28,35,81,83 accident turn 4 Caution 4: rain Caution 5: rain 17. Matt T posted: 10.27.2018 - 9:11 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) The last race attempt for Tim Richmond sees him withdraw for health reasons, then resign from Hendrick Motorsports later in the month. An attempted comeback in 1988 was ultimately not to be, due to a highly controversial "positive" drug test that barred him for the 1988 season. He was reinstated later in the year after a settled lawsuit, but couldn't find a ride, and ultimately never raced again before his death in 1989. 23. Saylor ran at least 10 races in Ulrich's #6; there's no evidence Cope attempted the Southern 500 (all his races that year were in Fred Stoke's #19). No offense, but I'm starting to think your "starting line-ups" are ficticious. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
