Independant Bobby Wawak makes his final start (36th; engine failure). 3. Steve posted: 01.09.2007 - 12:41 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Earnhardt only needed to finish 19th or better. I'll bet his race strategy was to go for the win anyway! 4. Sadly, Wawak passed away in 2004 at age 64. 5. RaceFanX posted: 12.12.2007 - 8:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Last Cup race for Steve Christman. Christman was the first Cup driver I ever saw race in person when I went to an ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series race. 6. Shepherd had a really good car, but his pit crew kept shooting him in the foot with bad pit work. He could run with the #9 and #3 all day long. 8. Just found the old tape recently and here are a few sponsorship tidbits I noticed. #08-Butch Miller had Phoenix Construction on his hood & Lane Automotive in front of his rear tires. #80-Eddie Bierschwale had Allens Assoc. Glass on his hood & TV Panel (rear bumper). This was the same paint scheme that the #80 used earlier in the year with Gary Fedewa. Maybe George Smith bought the team from Harold Burke? #51-David Simko should read "Metro 25 Car Care Centers" (is missing the number "25"), Mound Steel was on the TV Panel #74-Bobby Wawak also had Superior Piping on his TV Panel & Nelson Contracting on the bottom of his hood. #64-Curtis Markham had "Jim Testa" on his TV panel (rear bumper). #41-Ronnie Thomas had what appeared to be a "TRW Ford" logo on his TV panel, even though he was driving a Chevrolet. 10.
