Paul Page began calling races at the 88 Firecracker 400 until Bob Jenkins took over in the 90s. 14. ol hank posted: 11.12.2017 - 7:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) After replacing Ed Pimm in the Curb Racing vehicle, West-Coast Sprint Car driver Brad Noffsinger chalks up the best finish of the season for the team with a top-15 Morgan Shepherd made an unscheduled pit stop while running in the top 10, left the pits and as he worked through the gears the car lit up in flames...It died down after a few seconds but he was forced to retire with a grease seal issue. Morgan said in an interview with Dick Brooks that he was completely unaware of the fire until the car abruptly shut off. Benny Parsons had a car worthy of winning this race, he was the only one who could even hang with Earnhardt through the first half of the race. He got trapped a lap down after a crash during green flag pit stops and things only deteriorated from there. 15. ol hank posted: 11.12.2017 - 7:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also, Connie Saylor took over for Dale Jarrett after the races first caution. Saylor was kind enough to let Jarrett start his car for points reasons after he DNQed. 16. Shepherd got into an argument with his former car owner Tom Winkle with whom he had just resigned as to who was the car owner for his entry. Having just legally resolved it over the weekend. #92 David Sosebee had Bill Elliott Ford on the TV panel (rear bumper) 17. Keith Jackson's ONLY flag-2-flag NASCAR race. His other races were part of ABC's then famous "Wide World of Sport's" 21. He did say that this one race proved that he could still win at this level before retiring at the end of the season and gave him some peace with the decision. 23. RaceFanX posted: 03.25.2021 - 9:45 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) A.J. Foyt had a wild weekend as did double-duty racing here and in the famous 12 Hours of Sebring sports car race. His weekend was thrown into chaos when Cup qualifying was rained out on Friday and moved to Saturday morning, when Sebring would begin, so NASCAR opted to help him out and let him go out first to qualify. He put his #14 Copenhagen Oldsmobile Cutlass sixth on the grid with a great lap then jumped in a limo and raced to the airport to fly south to Sebring on a private jet Richard Childress loaned him. Supertex arrived at Sebring three hours into the endurance event but still managed to race five hours of the event paired with road racing great Hurley Haywood in a #1 Copenhagen Porsche 962. They finished fourth at the end of the night, 14 laps behind winners Klaus Ludwig and Hans-Joachim Stuck in the #86 Havoline 962, before Foyt then flew back to Atlanta to run the Cup race on Sunday. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
