It was also Miller's first start in almost 9 years 4. Clayton posted: 08.16.2008 - 12:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Most likely, Bill Elliott's last career win at Michigan. Bill dominated at Michigan, winning seven times in his career. 5. Roger posted: 08.29.2018 - 7:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bill Elliott had his car setup in a high gear which had his restarts slow. There was a late caution and everyone pitted except Waltrip. Bill restarted fourth and had to pass seven cars before he caught Waltrip and passed him for the win. Wallace, who had just lost the lead before the stop because of a loose set of tires, had a jack issue in the pits and came out the last car on the lead lap in ninth. He was actually running Bill down when Bill took the checkered flag but Bill had too big of a lead by then. Bill won is 30th race in his career and his last Michigan win after dominance that started in this very race in 1984 and led to seven victories overall. 16. Automatic caution no matter what. Back in 1989 they just sent a track worker sprinting out through the infield to the white line on the track to stand there waiting for enough of a gap in the cars going by at 170 mph so he could sprint onto the track and grab it and run back off the track and back through the infield. Awesome 17. GGDC posted: 12.22.2018 - 7:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @9 I think Lee may have been put in the wrong car. Lee was actually in the #01 Riverside Auto Parts CHevy, there's a photo somewhere of this car out there. 18. zuel660 posted: 12.28.2018 - 10:23 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @14 Bill's '89 car was solid red to the back of the doors, where the '90 version had the white stripe along the rockers and bottom of the nose, similar to his '87-'88 cars. & I agree, the '89 version was my least favorite edition of the Coors paint scheme, too. 19. In the 20th century on a fast track, when a car got loose ENTERING the corner, you just knew the stretcher was going to be deployed. Billy was okay though, or at least relatively okay. 23. You Tube footage of the race reveals Bodine (13), Trickle (25), Pearson (26) and Parsons (32) are the correct starting positions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
