Sacks put a six foot hole in the boiler plate wall in Turn 1,and then tumbled several times. Speed was involved as well, but didn't wreck that bad,but he broke his shoulder. 2. Judging from the way the wreck looked, you would have thought it to be the other way around. 4. He hit the wall incredibly hard. But Lake Speed was the one who got hurt. 14. They did catch him and released him outside the track. 16. Somewhere between leaving the scales and getting onto the grid, the 42 car lost 40 pounds. Somehow a NASCAR official noticed this and the car was sent back to the scales to have the weight added. NASCAR held the 42 in tech until the engines were started and Kyle had to start the race at the rear of the field. 18. The "real speed video" from the turn 1 camera really captures the speed and angle at which they hit. There's no doubt imo that had the wall been concrete one of them would not have walked away. Pocono ultimately installed concrete walls in the turns for the 1990 season. They would do the straights for 1991. The boiler plates are still there behind the concrete barriers. 24. Quite a comeback for Elliott from first lap issues but the length of the Pocono Raceway plus the unrestricted pit road speed allowed him to stay on the lead lap. 27.
