So I am just guessing. 4. spencer posted: 02.24.2007 - 7:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This is the race that ended Bill Elliott's magic at Michigan. Bill was dominating, but throughout the race, the front runners were reporting that Elliott was leaking oil onto their windshields. Sure enough, with about 15 to go, Elliott's car went up in smoke just as CBS was getting ready to cut to a commercial. When they came back Elliott was out of the race and said "I knew it wouldn't last". That left Earnhardt, Irvan(in an Oldsmobile, I believe, this site says Chevy, but that was later in the year), Bodine and Martin to fight it out. An exciting finish. 5. Talladega in July was his first race in a Chevy. 17. Tom posted: 06.24.2015 - 7:53 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Classic Earnhardt...winning with about a 5th best car. 18. Ryan W posted: 09.11.2015 - 11:33 pm Rate this comment: (1) (2) Tom as I'm sure you know he did that a lot during his career. He snookered Elliott into going too hard and blowing his motor up. Mind games! 19. Walleyewhacker posted: 07.18.2017 - 2:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) How do you snooker an oil leak? 20. Big Ron posted: 09.19.2018 - 7:31 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) You have to ignore Ryan...he lives in the fantasy world that Bill was ever "snookered" by Dale Earnhardt. Earnhardt got out of the car and stated "Bill looked like he had us covered today." Earnhardt was almost always honest as long as he didn't do something wrong. Earnhardt fans continue to live in an alternate reality only known to them. Irvan's team moved to Chevy when Chevy offered the team money to switch because Ford was breathing down their necks in the manufacture points. 21. Jimnsimforever posted: 12.31.2018 - 4:59 am Rate this comment: (1) (2) I'll tell you how you snooker an oil leak. Everybody knows Dale Earnhardt's nickname and that other drivers would be scared when he came up behind them. It got to the point where Dale's car would intimidate other cars. What happened in this case is Bill's car was actually so scared it started peeing oil out until it finally blew. 22. zuel660 posted: 12.31.2018 - 8:00 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Earnhardt only won twice at MIS to Elliot's 7 trips to victory lane there. If there was ever any 'snookering' at Michigan, it would have been at the end of the Champion Spark Plug 400 there in August of 1987. 23. Jimnsimforever posted: 12.31.2018 - 3:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Thumbs down on my post zuel660? Really and truly no sense of humor on these boards. Bill Elliott 7 trips to victory lane at Michigan to only 2 for Earnhardt. Dale would probably concede the 7 wins to 2 wins advantage Elliott had over him at MIS as long as he got to keep his 7 championships and let Bill keep his 1 title. 24. He unfortunately had engine issues about midway through the race and fell a lap down due to being down a cylinder until he was able to pit and get the issue rectified. 27.
