Also this is about the only race where someone filling in for Darrell Waltrip didn't tear up the car. 2. Great run for ASA icon Butch Miller (12th). Michigan native Ed Cooper (41st) made the last of his 3 starts, all of which were at MIS. 3. He was involved in a wreck towards the end and had to be carried to the ambulance. 5. There was plenty of side by side action and not a lot of crashes. Also of note, Rick Wilson ran in the top 10 all day and was in position for one of his best finishes of the year until hitting the wall coming out of turn 2 with about 15-20 laps to go. The resulting damage put him out of the race. No caution was thrown for this. Based on the results listed here on the site, Wilson finished fairly well when he finished. Unfortunately, he DNF'd more frequently than he finished races that year (15 DNF's to 14 finishes). 7. The winner of the race was Mark Martin, who drove the #6 for Jack Roush that David Ragan would eventually drive. 9. It's just a typo that has not been corrected it. 13. Hylton campaigned a Chevrolet and a Buick in 1989-1990. Winkle always owned a Pontiac and (other than when Food Lion/Dinner Bell were his primary sponsors later in 1989) ALWAYS had AC Delco as a sponsor to some degree, either primary or associate, on his cars. Add to this the fact that the car number font identically resembled every Winkle entry numbered #48 as referenced in this picture: http://hostingbytes.us/images/3/5837082.jpg There may have been some type of affiliation between Hylton and Winkle by this point, but I doubt it as Winkle's use of the #48 for 1989 forced Hylton to use #49...and the #48 had been James' number for decades prior to this. If indeed this is a Winkle entry, and I'm almost certain it is, this would be the last start for one of his cars. 14. Mark Martin took the white before the spin occurred so he took a caution checker (that's at least what the broadcast said.) 16.
