Point leader Davey Allison struggled, spinning out in front of the leaders, finishing out of the top 25, and losing more than 60 points to Bill Elliott (5th) and Dale Earnhardt (6th). 5. We want to close it into the France Family. We love you. 6. Irvan hails from Modesto which is about a two-hour drive from Sonoma. This was his first Cup win of 1992. 18. Bramblegrunt posted: 09.15.2016 - 3:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Terry Labonte nearly broke a winless drought but got passed with 5 laps to go after nearly getting held up by the lapped car of Ted Musgrave. Irvan made a daring attempt to go 3 wide and had to lock up the brakes avoiding an accident. He eventually was able to power past Labonte that lap coming off turn 11 and did not look back. Tommy Kendall returned after nearly winning this race a year ago and then suffering a grinding crash at Watkins Glen, he returned in a car owned by Jimmy Means but stated in the interview they got it from Hendrick Motorsports so their hopes were high for a good run and returned with a solid top 15. The site here states its a Pontiac that he ran, however as stated, its a Hendrick purchased car and per youtube coverage around the 2 hour 22 minute mark you can see it is indeed a Lumina he raced for Jimmy 'Smut' Means. 19. JSPorts posted: 11.18.2020 - 1:52 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) That is impressive, indeed. This was another almost-win at Sonoma for Terry Labonte. He finished 2nd there in 1994 and 3rd in 1997, 2002 & 2006. Terry was a pretty good road racer, but he never won at Sonoma or Watkins Glen, only Riverside (where he won twice.) 30. He never broke through for a win here but he came close several times. This was the Iceman's best finish of the season but while Labonte was shut out of victory lane he still ran solidly throughout 1992 and was in the top-10 in points for much of the year including here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
