Add that 5 to the 5 from the Dover pit call a few weeks earlier, and it could have been a tie after Atlanta, with Elliott winning with more wins then Alan. 15. stricklinfan82 posted: 04.21.2008 - 5:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Jimmy Means needed some extra cash to help his team transition from Pontiacs to Fords in time for the 1993 season, so with a short field he entered 2 extra start-and-park cars for Mike Potter and John McFadden. 16. Kyle Petty was the most consistent driver down the stretch of the 1992 season, not named Alan Kulwicki. If there WERE a Chase in 1992 Kyle Petty would have won the title. 27. They actually got a tiny bit of tv time recognizing Blaney's great dirt career to this point. They documented that this car run was one of the bankrupted Team III Pontiacs from 1991 that got auctioned off. Wonder where the remainder of those cars went. Perhaps Means? 37. After Mickey Gibbs was let go in the middle of the season they put together some decent runs with several drivers. 38. Jr posted: 01.09.2017 - 7:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Actually Josh, Kenny Wallace was set to drive for Team III in 1992 with Dirt Devil as the sponsor. However, before the season started, both Wallace/Dirt Devil pulled out due to McMahon's business practices and his team dissolved. Sabates picked up Wallace and Dirt Devil for the 92 Busch Season. 39. Josh posted: 08.11.2018 - 2:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Question for the board: Mike Wallace's #88 FDP Brakes Ford looked a lot like Andy Belmont's #59 FDP Brakes Ford that had been running some earlier in the season. Perhaps Barry Owen purchased one of Andy's cars for this race? Two interesting items to note: Mark Martin caused the second and final caution with about 60 laps to go when he hit the wall hard coming out of Turn 4. Martin admitted he was pushing very hard, trying to get around the lapped car of Michael Waltrip and try to run down Ernie Irvan. The caution for Martin was the first for any type of contact since late in the race at Martinsville three races ago, as North Wilkesboro had run caution-free and Charlotte had three cautions, but only for debris and a harmless spin by Wally Dallenbach. Had Martin cruised and we assume a third place finish here, he collects 92 extra points and enters Atlanta second in points, 21 back of Davey, instead of in sixth 113 back. This would also have left the gap between first and sixth heading into Atlanta even slimmer, at 98 points instead of 113 to Martin. 41. Hmmmm, but this site says it was Rusty. And so does wikipedia. I did just watch the fall Rockingham Busch race from 92 and they did an interview with Kenny and he wished his owner Felix Sabates a quick recovery. Must've been talking about owner for the following year. Facts are so confusing, aren't they Mr. Facts only man from the last race thread? 43.
