His 2nd win of what would be 4 in a row. 2. Anonymous posted: 10.14.2007 - 9:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The exact opposite of what happened in the first Michigan race happened in this race. In the 1st race, Mark Martin dominated, but had a bad pit stop and Ricky Rudd stole the win. In this race, Rudd had the best car, but lost the motor and Martin cruised to victory. 3. This would have been the race to decide the Chase field. Davey Allison would have qualified for the chase as one of the wild card drivers, but for obvious reasons he wouldn't have been participating in the Chase. Essentially, there would have been an 11-driver Chase field with Davey finishing 12th, unless NASCAR decided to allow the top 12 able-to-participate drivers in, in which case 11th in points Bill Elliott (on the 175-170-165 system, it would have been Jeff Gordon on the 43-42-41 system) would have qualified. The same thing would have happened a year later with Ernie Irvan, except that in 1994 it would have been Darrell Waltrip who would have been moved in, IIRC. 7. myself posted: 05.28.2013 - 12:04 pm Rate this comment: (5) (1) Lets all be thankful the stupid Cha$e wasn't in place back then!! 8. It was Speed's first top-10 finish since Atlanta all the way back at the end of the 1989 season. Ron Hornaday, Jr. and Wayne Spears' Winston West team make a surprise entry in a Midwestern NASCAR Winston Cup race but do not make the field. 9. dedphesant posted: 05.01.2016 - 4:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #8. IIRC, this was only the third time that Lake Speed qualified on the front row. All three were P2. 10. Given that Mark Martin was in the middle of what turned out to be a four-race winning streak at the time it looks like the Speedworld crew were right. 11. General Motors bought the sponsorship rights for 1994 to promote its Goodwrench car repair service at its dealerships, that sponsorship would last just three years. 12.
