Didn't do too bad for spinning out, 5th place, 1 lap down, but Martin was unstoppable that day. 3. SPENCER posted: 12.18.2005 - 3:15 am Rate this comment: (0) (3) Good Job!Bob Schacht 4. That guy caused Davey so many problems it was hard for me to believe that Yates pegged him for the 28 driver's seat! 7. To expedite track drying, the race was started under Yellow-Green and run that way for something like 24 laps. 8. He would make history the following year at the Brickyard as the first driver to make a qualifying lap, and would also attempt the inaugural event at Texas Motor Speedway in 1997, but his future attempts at qualifying for a Cup race were unsuccessful. Rest in peace, H.B. 1936-2003. 9. kenneywallace posted: 06.11.2007 - 3:50 am Rate this comment: (1) (6) The reason Schacht didn't start the race is because he had the field covered and had easily the best car, but didn't feel like leading and dominating, so he chose not to. Not really. 10. dwilk32 posted: 08.29.2007 - 6:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) does anyone know why robert yates chose ernie irvan to replace him and why did irvan leave morgan-mclure in the middle of the season. 11. most posted: 08.29.2007 - 11:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (3) lmao, kenney, that was real funny! 12. most posted: 11.02.2007 - 8:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) BTW, the Irvan Mcclure thing was a big lawsuit and there was hurt feelings and all that. Race FLEW by with really only 2 cautions if you think about it since the race started under caution with the track drying deal. 18. fcfz posted: 02.10.2010 - 4:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) YEAH MARTIN WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 19. martin-n-rusty posted: 02.24.2010 - 7:34 am Rate this comment: (0) (2) I don't think that is necessarily the case Wagoner. 20. Dixon always campaigned that number. Plus Dixon's Mansion Motorsports cars frequently carried Burger King sponsorship during the 1990's after Glidden Paints left. I am not sure of these statements by any means but that's my hypothesis & the reasoning behind it. However, Dixon never campaigned an Oldsmobile either where as Schacht did. So go figure?!?!?! It could have been a "joint effort." 21. soupclan posted: 06.08.2011 - 5:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) the first of Martins 3 Major Race Wins would win a Coke 600 in 2002 and another southern 500 in 2009 22. It was great for TV, Irvan would get by Earnhardt and then Earnhardt would come back around with his patented slide job and regain the lead. It was awesome 24. Perhaps there has since been rule changes since 1993 about not making pace laps, because I was scratching my head at announcers statement that if you dont make the pace laps you arent allowed to start. How very odd, because his car was clearly shown moving behind the wall, looked ready to go and then the announcers said he couldnt start because he didnt make the pace laps. Schacht certainly was an odd choice for the 85 team's of revolving drivers for this particular race as he was more an ARCA man and this track was not typical for ARCA experience. Jeff Purvis, another ARCA vet at the time and restrictor plate specialist, also drove the vacated #4 Kodak Chevy and had stated he was rather nervous driving this track due to his limited experience. 31. Joshua posted: 11.03.2019 - 1:01 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Todd Bodine has a super strong and fast car and had gotten up to and was running with the leaders, but the car wouldn't get back going after a pit stop. It was determined later that apparently Todd had inadvertently tapped the battery switch on the car, causing it to shut off. Haha, leave it to another Earnhardt fan to prop up their driver any way they can. Sure Dale finished fourth after hitting the wall, but, there were only five laps left when he hit it and there were only four cars on the lead lap. He only had to nurse it home to secure 4th place. But yeah, total beast ! 35. rateus posted: 04.19.2020 - 12:05 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) Kenny Wallace didn't go the distance in this race, he stepped out early owing to his shoulder injury and let Dick Trickle bring the #40 home 10th https://www.tampabay.com/archive/1993/09/06/rain-becoming-race-tradition/ 36.
