It was later restored. "Tina and Alan," Dave Marcis' sponsor in this race was a honeymooning couple from New Jersey, married the day before this race. Alan Young called up Dave to see how much it would cost to sponsor his car in this race. Dave gave him a number, Alan gave him a check and they sponsored him in this event. 9. Stricklin just didn't accelerate as fast as Schrader, Earnhardt, or Wallace. Whether he missed a shift or wasn't able to speed up, Wallace wasn't at fault. And you're a bleeping moron if you don't think Rusty couldn't have backed off. He seen an oppurtunity and took advantage of it and got back in the points hunt. If he doesn't do that the standings is probably around 270 instead of 184. Rusty had a lot of back luck during the whole 90's and it was because of shenanigans like this is why. I think Rudd wasn't as nice as everyone portrayed him to be either, but I think he could handle Rusty pretty easily. Rudd is a lot like Carl Edwards. Stays in great shape and would have killed Rusty. 21. David posted: 07.30.2013 - 1:39 am Rate this comment: (3) (1) Ryan is probably the most biased person I've seen posting on this site. So the early racing champions 1990 version of this car with Brett Bodine driving and Kenny Bernstein was accurate as the early version did not have the white trim that the real car had most of the time. I guess since the real car in this race was a backup, they did not put the trim on it. 36. Walter White posted: 06.03.2015 - 8:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) If only the 26 had more races from 1990-1994 without Bodine, they might have actually competed for a Top 5 in points. That car was wicked fast, yet it had one of the worst drivers in the garage behind the wheel. Bodine would qualify well, yet finish on average at least 5-7 spots lower then his start. It's sad, because that 26 car was one of the coolest teams out here. So much wasted potential. 37. After this race I was having bad flashbacks of 1989 down the stretch, but it was not to be. Mr. Intimidator wouldn't let it happen. "You are the most retarded,half-wit on this site Ryan.We know you think Big E died for your sins and all the other drivers are worthless. It's demented psychofants like you that ruin sports." No, it's people like you that discredit and degrade Dale and act like he won all his championships by knocking people out of the way. Wrong. Except for '80 and '90 most of his championships were won by a good portion of points. In '93 he just had to finish 34th or better in the last race. "Considering how many points earnhardt caused wallace to lose after dumping him at dega it's amusing e fans would whine about rusty causing this wreck.(which he didn't btw)" What's even more amusing is that people actually blame the wreck at 'dega on Dale. Rusty clearly came down on him to block on the last lap. Earnhardt had a ton of momentum. He can't slow down in the trip-oval on the last lap! Come on. Really people should blame Nascar for bunching the cars back up for calling a red flag just for a little bit of mist and the accident between the two wouldn't have happened... btw, he went from 3rd to 6th in the 'dega wreck. Wow what a major point loss that was... smh "Anyone who actually watched the race and has fuunctioning eyesight (and brain) saw smoke out of hut stricklin's tailpipe on the replay, accompanied by an immediate reduction in velocity (compared to the cars all around him) when Wallace got into him on a restart, when you don't expect people to be slowing down. It was easy to see that Rusty didn't do Hut any favors and didn't back off. He knew where Earnhardt was and blatantly did it on purpose and seized the moment to get back in the title chase. I don't feel a bit sorry for Rusty. Never could win a big race... Earnhardt owned him. 38. Tempers also flared quite a bit in this event due to the accidents, which included Earnhardt and Rudd upset at Rusty and Phil Parsons upset at Musgrave. Ironically, the crash that nearly turned into a penalty (the Bodine-Gordon incident), Bodine was not upset at all as he believed, with good cause, was entirely incidental. 42. Geoff Bodine for whatever reason it was, completely changed his demeanor during his career. He went from complaining or pointing the finger like most drivers would, or being upset when he didn't have a good finish to being a pretty much jolly glass is half full guy from literally one season to the next I noticed. 1988 and before, pretty serious and would get mad like anyone Geoff Bodine. 1989 (his last year driving for Hendrick) and on, or at least from then through this 93 season, jolly, happy go lucky Geoff Bodine. Don't know what happened in his life to bring on this change. Maybe it was because he turned 40 at the start of the 89 season and it made him realize he his career was going to end at some point soon and he wanted to enjoy the time he had left. Rick Wilson- I can't imagine the immense pressure on the guy that took over Richard Petty's seat. Probably why Ted Musgrave and others turned it down. Not to mention the fact Richard himself sticking around too long to where he wasn't competitive at all anymore hurt that team big time. Each and every year he held on and kept driving that team got more and more behind and made it harder and harder to turn it back around with new drivers after he left. 47. Joshua posted: 02.21.2020 - 2:43 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Sure, in addition to being out of a ride for an entire year, he's taking over the Petty car in his return. I'm sure he felt double the pressure to perform, and he may have pressed a bit. I also wanted to clarify my earlier comment as it may have given off the impression that Rick Wilson wasn't a good fellow. That's not true, my buddy has very good things to say about him as a person, and even had a sense of humor about his "Wreck Wilson" moniker. 48.
