In Peter Golenbock's book 'American Zoom,' Golenbock said Waddell Wilson was brought in to run Hedrick's car after this race. Wilson's first act in charge was to fire Parsons. Golenbock says that it wasn't the first time that Wilson had fired Parsons, saying it was one of the 'racing feuds.' 8. But, if his comment was sarcasm or hyperbolic, and you didn't pick up on it, or that it was at least a possibility, then maybe you're not very intelligent.... just trying to help you out. Tide1732 probably doesn't need my back up,but it just gets under my skin when someone is unnecessarily being an ass 14. I don't think anyone can get a read on him or her or the comments he or she makes. Different hypotheses have been floated out there but none have any traceable consistency and of course can't really be proven. I'm with you though, I don't feel the need to attack him or her personally any time an interesting comment from someone appears, especially when 99% of them are ultimately harmless. 15. As said above, Rick Wilson was injured in a crash at Dover the week before so Hensley was called on by the King Richard Petty to drive the STP car. Unfortunately for that team, the car got caught up in a wreck and was the first car out. Not long after, Kyle Petty was overcome by exhaustion and dehydration and Jimmy Hensley was called on to sub for him and was able to salvage a 10th place finish in the #42 Mello Yellow car. 17. He had to have Dick Trickle, who subbed for him the week before at Dover, get in the car and finish the race and that team managed a 6th place finish. 18.
