Mark Martin passes Dallenbach in turn 9 with 6 laps to go and pulled away to win his 3rd straight Glen race from the pole. 2. I was a big Ford fan and decided to choose one of the best Ford had I was a faithful fan of #6 from that weekend onward, good times (1997) and bad (2003), until Talladega in the fall of 2007 when he announced his defection to Chevrolet. 9. I wish more crappy drivers would do that today (i.e. Nemecheck, Blaney, Yeley, Reutimann) 10. Makes me wish Wally had won, although I hate Bill Davis. It would have added another win to the season to go with the one Ward Burton would later score at Rockingham. 11. 83andJoe posted: 06.23.2013 - 8:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #68 owner: Victor Sifton 12. I believe it was the 6 got hit from behind from the 2 who got hit from the 7. 13. This was Elton Sawyer's only Winston Cup road course race, he DNQed at Sonoma earlier in year and didn't go to either one in 1996. 14. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 04.12.2015 - 11:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The 3rd caution was for oil on track 15. He gutted the Pontiac home in 2nd but requested immediate oxygen following the race. 19. Bodine reacted in time but Wallace did not and it was an accordion affect that badly damaged both Bodine and Wallace. Martin fell back too giving the lead to Dallenbach who had been lurking in the top 5 prior to that, but Martin cut through the pack with relative ease and the late caution erased a 5 second lead Dallenbach had and handed the win to Martin after he sized up Wally to pass with 6 to go. Dallenbach really wanted to win but his goal was a top 5 since he did not have any rides lined up for 1995 or 1996. They reported that he was in talks with 2 owners to potentially start his own team in 1996, but it turns out he would sign with Bud Moore. Maybe this performance was credit to that. Jimmy Spencer spun out in just about every corner in this race, never caused a caution for it, and still managed to finish on the lead lap. It was performances such as this that confirmed Jimmy was not a huge fan of road racing Butch Leitzinger had a solid run in the not-very-good #40 team, to answer the poster #5, he is a longtime road racer, champion of the 24 hours of Daytona, multiple time champion of the ALMS. He was kind of the next generation of Dorsey Schroeder. This would end up being his best finish in Cup, but I loved it when he drove that Bobcat #03 car prior to this 20. Just typical of Rusty Wallace's career. True feast or famine driver. 23. RaceFanX posted: 11.24.2019 - 9:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Butch Leitzinger spun out in first round qualifying and had to nervously wait it out when rain almost washed out the second round, which would have doomed his chance to get in the race since the #40 team did not have enough points for a provisional. The skies would however brighten and Leitzinger would end up being the fastest second-round qualifier before turning in a solid run in the race itself. 24.
