The only 8 laps DJ lead all day were the last 8. This race aired on a doubleheaded edition of ESPN SpeedWorld with the CART race at Road America. Michael Andretti made it a two-for-two day for the Blue Oval Boys. He won the race with a last lap pass when Al Unser Jr. blown his motor. 5. It was a one-off deal on the Cup side for Ron, who would go on to win the Craftsman Truck championship that year for DEI, but five years later he'd tackle the Cup Series for real...driving car #14 for a different racing legend, A.J. Foyt. 8. Brandon posted: 01.25.2016 - 7:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What happened to Kyle? When did he get injured? 9. He started the prior race at Watkins Glen but Todd Bodine drove the majority of that race in his place and he sat out the next two races completely to heal up. 10. Sacks' short six-race tenure highlighted just how much the #29 Chevy was turning into a revolving door. 11. ESPN had the in-car camera on the Citgo Ford which caught the quick maneuvers to avoid any damage Kyle Petty was out for this race, as RaceFanX stated, from injuries from the Brickyard 400, he had 5 broken ribs and a split scapula and bruised lung that went uncaught from the accident which is why he chose to tough out at least a start in Watkins Glen. It wasnt until mid week that he felt he wasnt getting better that he got a deeper examination and they found all these things where he then chose to sit this race out entirely as well as Bristol Dave Marcis was looking to break the record for most miles run in Michigan history but came up short on this attempt when his engine failed on his 35th lap 12. After being asked what was broken in the car, Burton uttered "I hit the goddamn thing!" 13. danny posted: 11.30.2020 - 5:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) If that was 2020 and even it was lighthearted Ward Burton might have been fined, a lot of money and perhaps points!! By the way I wonder why Dave Despain was working that weekend and John Kernan wasn't at the track that weekend? 14.
