He turned Greg Sacks (In relief of injured Robby Gordon) into the turn 1 wall while they raced in the top 5. 2. It, in essence, ended Hillin's Cup career as he would make just one more start at Bristol in 2000 in his career 5. The #91 team had been having trouble all season and this was the last race they qualfifed for before SPAM pulled the plug. The team, which also dismissed driver Mike Wallace sortly after this race, survived by becoming a part-time team but never really found a sponsor with enough money to give them a chance to contend. 6. I know the Unocal 76 Win from the Pole bonus would increase race by race until it was won, but he started 11th. 9. Art D posted: 06.26.2009 - 9:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 25th career win for J. Nice chunk of change. 14. RaceFanX posted: 09.23.2017 - 12:12 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor: #10 Ricky Rudd- Tide Mountain Spring (also run in the Coca-Cola 600 two races earlier) 15. Ward Burton in particular looked like he really had something for Gordon but sadly his engine died as the race started to approach the final stages. Jeff Green had a pretty impressive stint around the halfway mark where, thanks to a timely caution, he was able to pit for fuel only and take the lead for a few laps. Darrell Waltrip had a really good run all day as well, ran up in or around the top 5 all day - one of the races in his late career where he showed he still had it. Derrike Cope put in a quietly solid performance to pick up a nice 11th place finish for the brand new Nelson Bowers team, and Jeremy Mayfield backed up his 4th place run at Dover with another brilliant run to 5th, as he started to make good on the hype that seemed to surround him in his earlier career. Also I want to give a shoutout to my man Greg Sacks, even though he crashed before even lap 10. A strong 4th-place starting position as he substituted for the injured Robby Gordon quickly became 2nd as he made a great start, where he held on until eventual winner Jeff Gordon started to pressure him for the position. Going through turn 1, Sacks overdrove the corner, spun out, and crashed. Unlike comment 1's claim, Gordon never touched him - that was (sadly) all on Sacks. If he hadn't crashed - big if, I know - he very well might've hung on for a solid top 10 or top 15 finish. 19.
