Dale Jarrett had an oil leak, they put oil in the car on the last pit stop.

Hmmm MOST, I think that was the '98 race you're thinking. I just watched
the race on tape two nights ago, and it certainly happened in '98. If it
happened in '97 too, then geez.

This was the second race I had ever attended, and Jarrett said in the
post-race interview that his car was so fast, it was unfair to his
competition.

Ted Musgrave ran even with Jarrett for much of the second half when his
crew chief called for two tires on the last stop which didn't work at
all. I remember being confused why they would try a strategy play with a
car so even with Jarrett. It would have been interesting to see it play
out in a battle on four tires. Earnhardt continued his mid season
improvement with a top five capable car but was caught in a major tangle
when Bobby Labonte spun his brother Terry in the tunnel turn. The crew
would somehow piece the 3 back together for a 12th place finish.

The commentators for the race were Ken Squier, Buddy Baker and Greg
Sacks. The pit road reporters were Steve Byrnes, Glenn Jarrett, Mike
Hogewood and Matt Yocum.
