He was lapping Jeremy Mayfield and got clipped in the left rear quarter panel to wide applause from the crowd. 4. It was originally the prototype Lincoln bodied stockcar the 37 team built and tested with before giving up on the project and selling the chassis to RYR who rebodied it into a Ford and used it as a short track car for a few years. 9. AJ posted: 01.05.2010 - 8:26 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) MGD2Wallace is right. Trickle had on much fresher tires and was running down Martin and Jarrett at a high rate. 10 more laps and he definitely would have had a shot at the win. 12. 18fan posted: 02.19.2010 - 5:30 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) First top 5 for Trickle since the 1993 season finale at Atlanta. 13. Elliott ran the dark blue sponsorship again in following 1997 races at Richmond, Dover, New Hampshire and Martinsville. Elliott's paint job was quite popular as a diecast and brought back for an encore at Bristol for the 1998 night race. 15. He was so disgusted with the way the team was operating, he told ESPN's Bill Weber off camera quite plainly, "I quit!". He would soon have a good day at Bristol. 16. SG224 posted: 12.12.2012 - 2:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) In reply to Steve above, Tim Brewer took over for Tryson. 17. Terry Maynard posted: 03.22.2013 - 9:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The reason Tryson got mad and quit was that he had pitted Bodine early and as soon as he went back out the caution came out. That left Bodine 2 laps down, and as Tryson was talking to Bodine on the radio to try and come up with a strategy to get their laps back, Tim Brewer told him to quit talking to Bodine and let him talk. Brewer had just been hired by the team a week or two earlier and Tryson was so angry, he quit on the spot. 18. b4il3y posted: 10.26.2013 - 1:40 am Rate this comment: (1) (3) I don't blame Tryson.. he would go on to be a great crew chief. Shame on Bodine here.. 19. Brandon posted: 04.16.2015 - 10:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bodine had just sold the team to Jim Mettei and he brought Brewer in if memory serves correctly. 20. Bad Booking posted: 01.01.2016 - 7:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The summer of DJ continues as he dodges mayhem to win a race that John Kernan from ESPN coined as "A 500 Round Heavyweight Title Bout!" Freaking Michael Waltrip nearly changed the outcome of this race as he denied Dale Jarrett from passing him twice in the final lap and Mark Martin got very close to passing DJ. 21. Anthony posted: 12.01.2016 - 5:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The number of spins on track that didn't bring out a caution was unbelievable in this race! The best one was a car spinning in front of a whole bunch of cars and blocking the track with smoke. 23. anonymous posted: 12.11.2016 - 12:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Watching this race now and have a minor correction on the third caution. It should be: #42 Accident backstretch He hit the backstretch inside wall pretty hard with the back end. 24. Several spins occurred that didn't result in cautions: Car 1 lap 10, Car 28 lap 54, Car 95 lap 110, lap 395 Car 43. 27. Steve Grissom also had a superb race, from 35th to 5th - even at one point he was the fastest car on track and was solidly in the top 5 for the last 100 laps or so. Great race for a couple of Cup underdogs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
