He was hit by Robert Pressley (I think), and also caught up Kyle Petty, Randy LaJoie, Chad Little, Brett Bodine, Buckshot Jones, and Ted Musgrave. Jones picked up a Top 10 (a miracle and a joke in itself) with some duct-tape. Bodine and Musgrave continued on a few laps down. Little and Pressley eventually came out the garage to complete some more laps and pick up positions, then retired (Little 37th, Pressley 39th). Benson, Petty, and LaJoie were all eliminated and finished 41st through 43rd. Then shortly after the restart, Kenny Wallace cut down a tire and crashed in turn 3 hard to finish 40th. David Green also cut a tire and crashed into the turn 1 wall so hard on lap 191, he actually broke the boiler plate steel and the race had to be redflagged to spot weld the wall. Amazing they went 199 green flag laps after that. 5. Breaker posted: 03.10.2008 - 5:44 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Buckshot Jones' career peaking after two starts. 6. To my knowledge, thats the only time I can think of a team with Ford factory support not running headlight decals after 1998. 9. I was not a Gordon fan at the time - quite the opposite - and this was easily one of the most dominant runs of his whole career. What a moment it was, then, when my favorite driver at the time wound up stealing the win on fuel mileage. All three of Dale's wins in 1998 came at Gordon's expense. This one wasn't quite as awesome as the Talladega victory, but it was right up there. 15. Butch Gilliland ran this sponsorship at Sonoma and Jerry Nadeau ran it in all of his races in the #9 until they switched to a Scooby-Doo movie scheme at the fall Richmond race) Cartoon Network changed their paint scheme often during their tenure as a NASCAR sponsor. The team started 1998 with a red scheme just to promote the channel before switching to the blue-and-pink birthday cake-themed look for the summer to tie in NASCAR's 50th Anniversary. They switched to a yellow Scooby-Doo look in the fall and ended the year with a pink car for the Powerpuff Girls cartoon. 16. Martinsville spring 1997 - led 431 laps Dover fall 1995 - led 400 laps (out of 500) Dover spring 2001 - led 381 laps 19. To still pull out a 3rd because he was so dominant is obviously nothing to sneeze at though. There would have only been 3 cars on the lead lap at the end of this race had Gordon not needed to make that late pit stop. In fact, it took Jarrett crawling around the track making sure he made it to the finish allowing Labonte to pass him coming out of the last turn to unlap himself to ensure that 4 cars would be on the same lap. And poor 'ol Rusty had a very good car. But he got caught 2 laps down when a caution came out right after he had pitted under green. Not having a car good enough to compete with Gordon so he could get his lap back, he had no chance. It didn't help matters that they ran the last 198 laps caution free. 20. sk posted: 10.13.2016 - 2:32 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Jerry Nadeau had food poisoning and was unable to qualify; Dennis Setzer climbed in the #13 but failed to make the race. A note on Jayski said that even if the 13 made it in, Nadeau wouldn't be allowed to drive because NASCAR rules prohibited rookies from competing in a race where someone else qualified for them. I wonder if this is still true? 21. sk posted: 11.06.2016 - 3:22 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also, Ted Musgrave got out of his car midway through, feeling the combined effects of a foot injury and heat in the car due to damaged crush panels from his earlier accident. Randy Lajoie hopped behind the wheel and guided the #16 home in 22nd, and may have been the first man to drive Hendrick and Roush equipment on the same afternoon. 22.
