Qualifying results for this race: https://web.archive.org/web/20001118074400/http://nascar.com/winstoncup/races98/jiffylube300/qual.html You can find qualifying results using the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine for the most of the 1996, 1997, and 1998 seasons (probably ditto 2001 thru 2007, but I didn't check). Biggest issue I noticed is they don't always list the DNQs for '96. 16. Jimnsimforever posted: 04.14.2020 - 2:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This race had to feel good for Larry McReynolds. After what was supposed to be the "dream team" pairing of he and Dale Earnhardt didn't work out, it didn't take long at all for him to help Mike Skinner to his first career top 5. RCR really struggled the first couple of years after going to a 2 team operation. In 97 Dale Sr didn't win a race, although he did have a solid season by normal standards and Skinner won ROY basically by default. In 98 Dale Sr finished 8th in the points and won the 500 finally but outside of that it was a disappointing season, and Skinner finished outside the top 20 in points. Although he would've made it in the top 20 had he not had to miss 3 races due to injury. 17.
