However, after the race Jack Roush began tiregate, a story in which Roush accused Gordon's team of soaking the tires. That claim was proven false. Roush apoligized to Gordon's team at Rockingham. Comments: Ron Fellows took his first non-road course Winston Cup race in Buzz McCall's car. 2. MASH_guy posted: 06.08.2005 - 2:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "It's just air, Jack." 3. It took my father and I 3 hours to travel the final 5 miles to the track....traffic was 3 lanes wide and backed up for miles, as it was a complete sellout. Fast forward to the last time I went with my old man, in 2010, and it took us 9 minutes to cover that same 5 mile stretch leading in to the track. It's amazing and sad how much things have changed over the years. 22. However, he was at the track on stand-by in case the injured Jimmy Spencer needed a relief driver. 23. Dan Pardus wrecked in practice before 2nd round qualifying and withdrew shortly thereafter. 24. The contest asked fans to write down the name of the driver leading at the end of lap 50, which turned out to be Mark Martin, and then mail it in on a postcard. The main prize was a luxury trip to the Dover race three weeks later, where the winner ended up seeing Martin win, and a piece of race-used sheet metal from either Rusty Wallace, Ricky Rudd, Kyle Petty, or Jeremy Mayfield's Cup cars, hence the contest name. The grand prize was a trip to the Richard Petty Driving Experience and a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix painted like John Andretti's Cup car that year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
