Anyone know who the #92 team was that Shepherd qualified with? 2. Hubert just did not have the right line in qualifying and just seemed to be a lot slower than the people he qualified around on Pole Day. In race trim, he was basically the slowest one out there. 3. I haven't been able to dig up any further information about it. 5. The team was named "Zali Racing" and also ran in the IRL during that time. Winston West driver Jeff Davis drove the car in first round qualifying (placed 49th out of 51) and Morgan Shepherd took over for the second round, but he was even slower than Davis and missed the show. The team also planned to attempt the Brickyard 400 that year with driver Darrel Krentz (no idea who that guy is), but that deal somehow fell thru. 6. As for Hubert qualifying 4th, you guys all know my opinions on cinderella qualifying. 8. Also Tony Stewart had a minor air crash (both front wheels off the ground) in this race. 10. 23andJoe posted: 03.04.2014 - 8:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #92 crew chief: Brian Bass 11. At this point, I always thought the two would be neck-and-neck with each other as far as wins. Jeff's career was right on the verge of taking off, and Ward Burton stuck with his Bill Davis boys until he could not anymore. Ward got a Daytona 500, Jeff got a Pepsi 400 and both have a Southern 500. 12. Hubert ran the same line everyone at least tried, he did not look slower than the cars qualifying right behind him and Benny said he ran great times in practice. I'd guess since that comment was made in 2007, the poster had seen quali 8 years ago and misremembered. 14.
