Darrell Waltrip was running in the top-ten during this race and had a
very good chance to win, when Steve Park spun him out and he wrecked.

Jimmy Spencer had this one in the bag with less than 20 laps to go when
he slipped in oil from Bill Elliott's blown engine in turn 1 late in the
event. Only after Spencer slid into the wall and Labonte took the lead
did NASCAR bother to throw the caution.

Marcis' impact was enormous, but Rusty Wallace's early wreck was a
vicious hit as his left front tyre let go.

Rick Mast was in the Top 10 for most of the race, even led early in the
race. Before settling for a 12th. I think he lost a lap too.

I just saw a video of Marcis' crash, and you actually see his helmet be
contained inside the car by the window net. It's amazing that he walked
away, given that he was 58 at the time of the crash.

Couple of streaks broken for Sterling Marlin in this race. It was his
first pole since the second Talladega race in 1995, his first top five
since the 1997 Pepsi 400, and his first top five on a non-restrictor
plate track since the second Charlotte race in 1996.

Scary moment for Chad Little as he was coming into the pits for his
green flag pit stop and spun out hitting the inside pit wall, thankfully
no one on pit road was hurt. Little was given a 4 lap penalty for
spinning on pit road.

Eli Gold, Buddy Baker and Dr. Dick Berggren were the commentators. Glenn
Jarrett, Steve Byrnes and Ralph Sheheen were the pit road reporters.
