His 117 laps led were the most led by one driver in the 400, till Jeff Gordon's coronation run in 2004 to join the Brickyard's elite group of four-time race winners. 4. myself posted: 02.20.2007 - 2:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I, along w/ many TRADITIONAL Nascar fans, was pi$$ed w/ Jarrett after his victory lane interview. He said winning this race was more prestigious than his Daytona 500 victories. I haven't liked him since! 5. biffle16 posted: 03.11.2007 - 5:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Last race for Chuck Rider as an owner. :( 6. Haywood posted: 07.26.2008 - 2:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) i think the 500 might be the most prestigious race, but i think the 400 has become the more important race to win. if for no other reason, because the track has much more history than daytona. indy has nearly 100 years of history, and daytona has only 50 years of history. nascar created daytona's prestige, but indy has prestige all its own. this race really sucked. jarrett pretty much never gave up the lead. burton lead for a lap about 100 miles from the end, but once jarrett passed him, it was all over. labonte never really gave jarrett a challenge for the win. 7. Where Kyle Petty's car ended up when he crashed was directly in front of us. If it wasn't my first race, I would have been bored out of my head. I don't know if they ever mentioned it on the broadcast, but it was threatening to rain at about the 3/4 mark. It got real cloudy and I actually felt a few drops in turn 2. I was freaking out cuz I thought my first race was gonna get cut short, lol. Other than the Petty crash, nothing stands out in my mind. 8. Interestingly, I thought it was some sort of TV camera, robotic arm or snowshovel on Dale's hood. Sources:Winner's Circle card has 1999 race action at Indy. Winner's Circle had the car on a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo, Dale never drove the sign car in 2000, if I recall. Jayski.com 13. TBS, CBS, and TNN had already done that, between mid 1997, and into 1998, and 1999. 22.
