As of right now, both have won 5 races at Richmond. Junior's won 2 Cup races and 3 Busch races, Tony's won 3 Cup races and 2 Truck races. 3. I'm not sure of the reason, but all Roush cars began using the wheels/tires from Chad Little's retired John Deere car. The rims of those wheels were bright green. It was so funny seeing Mark Marting's red/white/blue car and Jeff Burton's purple/black riding around with bright green wheels. My friends and I still talk about the race with the Green Wheels. 4. Good runs by Ted Musgrave(one of the few things that went right for him that year, and the late great Kenny Irwin.(Did he ever have a bad race at that track?) Stewart's win marked the end of an era. Gone were the days when a mere handful of top-ten's was enough to earn ROTY. You'd better win in your first season, or else! 6. On one hand, it came a little later than I'da preffered (I still cringe when I think about Loudon) and on the other, it came none the less. I felt like an athlete, jumping up and down and pointing up to God after Tony won. 7. His Winston Cup results: 8th, 9th, 10th, 40th (engine failure), 5th, and 42nd (accident). He had two Truck Series races at RIR, and he finished 5th both times, so at the checkered flag, Kenny was either in the Top 10 or in the garage area. He was probably so good there for the same reason Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman are: USAC. I believe USAC races are still held at Richmond. 8. myself posted: 02.20.2007 - 2:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) I remember cussing when Stewart won this race. Not only cause' I couldn't stand him, but b/c I loved Davey, & I wanting him to remain the most recent rooking to win in Winston Cup! Bummer! 9. biffle16 posted: 05.26.2007 - 6:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I loved the green wheels. But of course, I love the color green. :) 10. It was Rusty's best track in terms of average finish besides Kansas. However, he raced 5 times at Kansas and 44 times at Richmond. 12. 18fan posted: 10.12.2009 - 10:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Mark Martin's championship chances end with a blown engine. 13. 18fan posted: 07.09.2010 - 1:33 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Rick Mast's 300th Cup start. 14. It's also the 4th most laps ever led in a race by a JGR driver. And it was the first ever 1-2 finish for Joe Gibbs Racing. 15. The commentary and professionalism was a breath of fresh air. 23. GoPM21 posted: 08.25.2019 - 11:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Erm, I retract that as I thought you were responding to #18. Of Course Smoke and the Texas Native will both be inducted with there long time car owner Joe Gibbs in 2 weeks and you can watch it on NBCSn you I will. 27.
