I can't believe no one has commented on this race until now! Mark Martin
won his third straight September race at Dover.

My late grandmother asked me if this was a race for elderly people when
she saw Mark Martin in victory lane.

The top 5 consisted of a driver who has been close to a championship
many times but hasn't won one(Martin), a rookie in his 27th career start
who would become a two-time champion(Stewart), the champion-to-be in
1999(Jarrett), a future Cup champion in his fourth career Winston Cup
start(Kenseth), and the champion the next year(Labonte). That's a pretty
good top 5.

One of the best Dover races I've seen, both Joe Gibbs cars came from
multiple labs down (Bobby a poor start and Tony an unscheduled pit stop)
to regain their laps back near the end but Mark Martin was too dominant.
Also the race had broke a record for most lead changes at Dover before
the halfway mark. Most of the cars had tire issues which contributed to
the short amount of cars that finished on the lead lap. Also John
Andretti had a wreck which he blew a tire and hit the right side of the
car awfully hard, bursting the fuel tank.

Mark's final of 30 wins in the 1990s. Easily a top 5 driver for the
duration of the decade.

pit road reporters were Steve Byrnes, Glenn Jarrett and Ralph Sheheen.
