Steve posted: 06.13.2006 - 2:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This means that both Pocono races in 2000 ended with a last lap pass, because Mayfield bumped The Intimidator out of the way in the June race. (I'm not comdemning him for that, though; it's just a fact worth mentioning.) Rick Mast's last single-digit finish; his last Top 10 would come later in the year at Dover. 3. dalejrfan15 posted: 06.17.2006 - 2:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) wasnt june bug in a hard crash in practice here that made him hospitalized for a day? 4. The ending is on Youtube if anyone is interested. Absolutely loved this one! 9. myself posted: 02.28.2008 - 11:23 am Rate this comment: (0) (3) Fitting end for The Squeal! 10. If I'm not miskaten, I belive Rich Bickle relieved Terry Labonte during this race and brought the car home 11th. 11. He probably didn't have a flat tire, he was probably snorting something. He probably thought the white flag was the end of the race and thought it was the cool down lap. 13. Steve.M posted: 06.22.2010 - 9:44 pm Rate this comment: (5) (0) Not sure why everybody is on Jeremy's case. A bunch of people who probably defended Earnhardt when he knocked Labonte outta the way at Bristol the year before, but then go crying when he gets knocked outta the way at Pocono 14. Vaughn posted: 09.07.2010 - 7:35 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yes, Bickle did relieve Labonte, and he did bring the car home in a strong 11th place finish. 15. ii posted: 09.30.2010 - 3:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Labonte was in a hard crash the week before at Loudon, but got relieved by Bickle and broke his streak of 655 straight races started the next week. 16. He went through three doctors, including a neurosurgeon before they finally agreed to release him 20. 18fan posted: 10.13.2016 - 1:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This win made 2000 the only time in Rusty's last 9 seasons, 1997-2005, that he won multiple races in a season. 21. Amanda K posted: 07.16.2017 - 4:03 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) Arguably the most damaging race to Dale's 8th title run as it broke the momentum he'd built up in chipping away at Bobby Labonte's points lead and then Watkins Glen pretty much did him in because no one was going to beat the model of consistency that was Bobby Labonte that year. Fascinating how many titles in that time were won by consistency rather than flashy numbers (T. Labonte in 96, DJ in 99, B. Labonte in 2000, and Kenseth in 2003) and no fan disputes these championships unlike nowadays because these titles, as 98% of them pre-2004 were won the right way. 25. Anthony posted: 06.03.2018 - 1:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 5 of 7 cautions were thrown for oil on the racetrack. Three of them occurred in turn two & the two other times it happen was in turn one. Lot's of engine failures in this race, ten of them to say the least. 26. Interestingly, among the drivers considered to replace the late Kenny Irwin Jr. were Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick (https://www.crash.net/nascar/news/84345/1/musgrave-to-fill-gap-at-sabco). If it had been Johnson, the blue, grey/silver, and yellow paint job on the 01 looks as if it could've easily been a paint job on his Lowe's Chevys. 30. Mile501 posted: 03.29.2021 - 1:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Johnny Benson was driving an unsponsored car with an uncertain future after the team had just been bought by MB2 Motorsports. They had a rather unusual situation in that sponsor Valvoline was already signed to come over in 2001, but they still had no sponsor for the remainder of 2000 and were unsure if they would be able to run past Indianapolis. As he had already done several times this season, Benson had a strong top 5 car and led several laps before encountering alternator trouble late in the race. His team put in a new battery during the last caution, and Benson drove from about 30th all the way back up to 12th. Everyone who didn't encounter trouble stayed on the lead lap in this race that had unusually well-spaced caution flags. The 4 longest green-flag runs were all either 31 or 32 laps long. Finally, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Dale Earnhardt's trouble. He was running 2nd around lap 145 when he had a flat tire, and he lost a lap in the process of nursing his car all the way around the track back to pit road. Everyone else would have had to pit soon as well, but he got trapped a lap down when the caution flew for Stacy Compton's blown engine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
