This was the only time the Pettys' Sprint #45 entry raced as a Pontiac. When Adam Petty ran at Texas earlier in the season he ran a Chevrolet like he was racing in the Busch series and the team went with Dodges when it went full-time in 2001. This was Kyle's only race in that car in 2000 and his last Cup start of the season, the #45 team attempted the Homestead race later in the year but DNQed. 9. In both instances, he won the following race. This win marked the third time he had won consecutive races, which is pretty remarkable considering it was just his 8th win. 12.
