Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s whole race was a crash. He even hit a wrecker in
the garage area!

This was the final race for Exide as a primary sponsor. They had a
pretty dang good run & won a good # of races.

Dale Jr. had a massive crash late in the race when he tangled with Dave
Blaney and flew into the turn 1 wall, utterly obliterating the front of
his car.

Tony Stewart's fourth pole results in his first Cup victory from the pole.

This was the only time the Pettys' Sprint #45 entry raced as a Pontiac.
When Adam Petty ran at Texas earlier in the season he ran a Chevrolet
like he was racing in the Busch series and the team went with Dodges
when it went full-time in 2001. This was Kyle's only race in that car in
2000 and his last Cup start of the season, the #45 team attempted the
Homestead race later in the year but DNQed.

One of only two wins from the pole for Stewart, the other being the 2005
Daytona night race.

Tony Stewart swept the Dover races in 2000. In both instances, he won
the following race. This win marked the third time he had won
consecutive races, which is pretty remarkable considering it was just
his 8th win.

The car Kyle Petty drove in this race was the backup car for Adam
Petty's Cup debut at Texas.

Earnhardt Sr, was so livid at his son that he got on the radio and told
Richard Childress to tell his spotter to tell Jr. to park it.
