Jaff Burton and Bobby Hamilton took turns dominating the race, but it
was the Yates cars dueling for the win, with Jarrett making the late pass.

This was the last race as of 3/4/06 that Yates had a 1-2 finish.

Great race, one of the best of 2001 IMO.

Sterling Marlin was involved to some extent in three wrecks but somehow
finished 5th.

The car Mark Martin wrecked here was the same one he won the Winston
All-Star race with in 1998.

Kurt Busch's #97 team had started the 2001 season unsponsored but landed
a deal with Sharpie / Rubbermaid starting with this race. Their
combination with Roush would eventually last years and led to a
championship in 2004.

Andy Houston was not an open wheeler ;) He is Tommy Houston's
(Nationwide Series legend)son. You're probably thinking of Anthony
Lazzaro, who drove the 96 in the Busch Series in 2000.

5 laps to go, after Hornaday hit the wall he came inches from taking out
Rudd entering the corner with a flat right front. Whew. Amazing job by
Rudd's team, they had to physically literally stop him in his pit stall
with no brakes. Fixed it, and great drive by Rudd to get the laps back.
Felt bad that he lost it at the end. So many lapped cars in the way.
Nice call by Parrot to have Jarret get tires though.

Mike Joy, Larry McReynolds and Darrell Waltrip were the commentators.
Dr. Dick Berggren, Steve Byrnes and Matt Yocum were the pit road
reporters. Chris Myers and Jeff Hammond were in the Hollywood hotel.
