Well, one all the non-Gordon fans did. 4. Jeff Gordon led 381 of 400 laps (95.25%). Tony Stewart came close at Daytona in 2005, leading 151 of 160 laps (94.375%). 5. mcmurrayfan posted: 06.15.2006 - 3:54 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Johnny Benson's season went downhill from here after entering at 4th in points. He hit a tire on pit road and then the motor went later. 6. driver1 posted: 07.05.2006 - 1:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) Dale Jr led 100% of the July busch race in 2003. 7. driver1 posted: 07.05.2006 - 1:34 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) He led the daytona busch race. 8. Steve posted: 07.17.2010 - 1:03 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This race and the Milwaukee 225 (CART's Miller Lite 225 on ABC) were similar in that both tracks are 1 mile, qualifying was rained out, and the winner from Memorial Day weekend (Helio Castroneves there, Jeff Burton here) had a terrible day. 16. Schroeder51 posted: 03.25.2011 - 10:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The first caution was the result of Jimmy Spencer and Jerry Nadeau making contact going into turn 1. Nadeau spun, clipped Bill Elliott, and was hit hard by Ken Schrader. Elliott's car slid down the track and collected Michael Waltrip, while Nadeau's car was nicked by Casey Atwood. Elliott hit the wall again on the backstretch trying to drive back. Nadeau tried to refire his car, but his axle broke in half and the right rear wheel and half the axle came out his car. 17. It didn't help that Jeff Gordon had a winless streak that extended through teh fall in 2002. Believe or not, Jimmie had Jeff's car he won with in this race in '02. 19. However, in only two of those races did he lead double digit laps and most of the races saw him lead only one or two laps. 22. M posted: 10.29.2017 - 12:53 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Jeff destroys the entire field, winning his 4th race at Dover and setting the record for most laps led in a 400 mile race at Dover with 381 out of 400 laps led. First of back-to-back wins with the next coming at Michigan. As if having the fastest car all day was not enough, he gets a 14.4 second final pit stop and pulls away blistering the rest of the competition. That car was in another universe. 23. When you take out the laps led by drivers under those stops, Gordon led all but one lap in this race, which is insane. Truex's 2016 Coca-Cola 600 domination is reminiscent of Gordon's performance in this race. 24. Chris Myers and Jeff Hammond were in the Hollywood hotel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
