Rudd bumped Wallace out of 4th in turn 3 of the final lap, and Wallace retaliated by spinning Rudd out after after taking the checkers. Wallace claimed at the time that he had no brakes, but later admitted the dump had been intentional. 3. I believe 7 or 8 cars were caught up in that wreck. Jeff wasn't being careless, it's just the nature of the beast, which is why people love to watch races at Bristol. Besides, "Smooth move, Ex-Lax" is kinda 80's. 6. biffle16 posted: 03.08.2007 - 1:17 am Rate this comment: (1) (1) What's wrong with the 80's? 7. Marlin, brought the #40, which sported a solid red paint job more similar to Ganassi's indy car entries than later Target schemes would be, home in 9th. 10. He was 10th in the standings and didn't take the track for the reast of the season! 11. most posted: 04.14.2008 - 11:03 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Park was hurt badly in a Busch Series crash the next week at Darlington, his steering wheel came off and Larry Foyt t-boned him. IT basically ruined Steve's career, he never recovered from the crash 100%.... :( It's a shame, he would have won some races :( :( 12. If I'm not mistaken, I believe after battling for the lead, one of them spun the other out under a caution period. 14. Earlier in the race, Jason Leffler and Rick Mast broke their radiators in a chain reaction collision trying to avoid Brett Bodine's spinning car. 15. Think Martinsville 2011 Brian Vickers for Bodine's performance that night. 19. These 2001 Cup cars under the lights at the Bristol concrete looked almost as good as any racing series year in motor-sports history in my opinion. Classic Bristol race. Lots of cautions. Unlike the Spring, it wasn't decided by bad pit strategy mistakes... the fastest cars for the most part finished best. Benny Parsons in this broadcast on NBC lied about the Stewart Gordon incident from earlier in the season at Bristol. Stewart went down on Gordon, causing him to wreck himself. Stewart then retaliated at Gordon, dangerously on pit road after the end of the race. Parsons made it sound like Gordon was at fault. One of his many moments of poor quality commentary. Stewart beat Gordon cleanly this time though. This was a big victory for Jeff Gordon to get 3rd here, avoiding trouble and getting 175 points, 5 more than 2nd place Harvick did. Steve, it was bad luck for Green, but others bumped into each other without damaging their front ends as badly. His reaction time wasn't as good. It's the tiny things that make a big difference sometimes in a driver's performance. 21.
