Marlin was spun midway through the race by Jerry Nadeau, entering pit road. Marlin was penalized by NASCAR for speeding down pit road. Before Marlin had to pit again, NASCAR rescended the penalty, which allowed Marlin to stay out and win his 9th career race. Comments: Bobby Hamilton wreck on lap 6 and DNFed, ending his streak of 53 races with no DNFs, 4 short of the ultimate record. 2. Sad what happened to Travis Carter's team, especially considering the long history they had with the sport. From the unsponsored car he wrenched to a sixth place finish down at Daytona with Rick Mast to his years with Camel and Winston ... to the infamous K-Mart bankrupcy, the "diversity" effort with Sam Belnavis and National Guard and Hideo Fukuyama's Kikkoman deal (perhaps the sign that things were looking bad), and now. 4. Darrell posted: 01.02.2006 - 12:15 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) That was a shame. Most memorable for me was Darrell Waltrip's run with the team. According to DW, the 66 team was the old David Blair team that Carter bought. They ran out of a messed-up hop and the team was so out of whack, it was easy to see why they performed so bad. Yeah, Fukuyama was a big mistake. He was not ready for Cup, and I don't know what happened with Belnavis. I know he left for Roush and took the sponors with him, leaving Carter out in the cold. I hear he tried to revive his team with a British racing group, but that didn't happen. 5. dalejrfan15 posted: 07.01.2006 - 11:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) notice that in the first 3 races of the season jerry nadeau finishes 1 position ahead of Junior.Kinda wierd huh? 6. myself posted: 02.21.2007 - 5:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "The Squeal's" first top 5 since being axed by Penske a season earlier! 7. And in detail, NASCAR's radio monitors could not get the message through to Sterling's pit crew in time, so they rescinded the penalty. 9. Mark Martin finished 3rd in this event and became eligible for the No Bull 5 money in the next event, the World 600. Martin promised his crew that if him won the race at Lowe's he'd split the No Bull 5 million with them. He stayed true to his word when he did. 11. John Force ran a similar paint job on his NHRA Funny Car at the same time. Kurt Busch, Todd Bodine and Ryan Newman went three-wide for the lead on the opening lap. Busch and Bodine made it a two-car fight off turn 4 with Busch initially having the momentum before Bodine surged back and prevailed. Todd went on to led the opening 17 laps of the race but did not lead again. 18.
