This definately solidified it though. Tony Stewart started the race in the Home Depot Pontiac and led the race but had to get out of the car before the finish due to his injuries sustained at Dover. The Cue Ball Headed Fool finished the race out in the Rushville Rocketship with 15th place. 3. HomeDepot20TS: I get the "Cue Ball" shtick about Todd Bodine, since he is "lacking" in that particular aspect, but I don't get the "Fool" part. Could you 'splain that for us? 5. brandon posted: 02.20.2006 - 8:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) i believe kerry earnhardt coined the "cue ball headed fool" comment after a busch race in 2003 6. He was 12 or 13 laps behind, when he came to pit road feeling physically terrible. He got back out and finished 37 laps down, but he only lasted until mid-May when he realized his life was on the line. 11. myself posted: 02.21.2007 - 5:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Was this the race where the famous words, "Jimmy Spencer never forgets" was spoken during post-race interviews?! 12. Busch said in victory lane that Spencer forgot about Phoenix last year, and then at the Brickyard 400 Spencer said he never forgets. 13. john posted: 09.01.2007 - 7:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) No, "Jimmy Spencer neer forgets" was said at the Busch Series spring Talladega race in 2001. Toad Bodine was he his teammate in CUP at the time and didn't go with him on the last lap and pushed Mike McLaughlin to the win instead of Jimmy 14. I'm sure people will deny that he "got into him" but he did! 15. Spencer passed the disrespectful punk in turn 4 for the lead - cleanly, and Busch dove into his rear end in turn 1 a couple seconds later. I guess Spencer was slow enough to take the lead under green. sidenote: what does it say for Kurt Busch that a 13-14 year Tony Stewart fan like myself thinks he is a disrespectful punk. That's like a president so bad that a Bush supporter criticizes them, lol. 16. Jeff purposefully (maybe not, but probably so given that Jeff was probably still mad about Loudon the year before) didn't go on the start, letting Robby Gordon get the jump and first to the line and led the first few laps. NASCAR Black flagged Robby for jumping the start and he fell a couple laps down because of it, though they were taken away. I'm sure Jeff had a big laugh. 18. This was Jimmy Spencer's 4th and final career runner-up finish in Cup (478 starts). And it's the best finish for the #41 car since Curtis Turner finished 2nd at Hickory Motor Speedway in 1966 (23 career win for #41 from 1949-1965). 19. StenhouseFan17 posted: 01.02.2014 - 4:21 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Kurt Busch uses up Jimmy Spencer one lap after Spencer used him just a little to grab his first career Winston Cup win. Early race leaders Tony Stewart and polesitter Jeff Gordon both suffered issues that took them out of contention. Gordon simply overdrove the corner and spun out, backing into the wall. Stewart later spun himself shortly before giving way to Todd Bodine due to back and leg injuries suffered the week before at Darlington. Bodine took over the #20 Pontiac at the 125-to-go mark. After Gordon and Stewart fell out of contention, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. assumed command of the race, but opted to pit for tires on the next-to-last caution, putting him back in traffic. The new tires did not pay off, however, relegating Jr. to a 4th place finish. From there, it was Kurt's race aside from the one-lap tussle with Spencer. Two other notes: Defending race winner Elliott Sadler was a non-factor before nosing it into the inside backstretch wall, busting an oil cooler and momentarily going aflame. Hut Stricklin was a menace during the first half of the race as a lapped car, frequently making contact with the leaders on restarts and dive-bombing corners. Hut also made contact with teammate and fellow lapped car Ward Burton, nearly spinning in front of the entire field. Hut's act came to a head when he crashed with Joe Nemechek after a restart. Nemechek was running in the top 5 at the time. 23. 2002 Sponsor Updates posted: 08.30.2015 - 6:35 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor updates: #11 Hooters #41 Target/Energizer #44 Brawny/Georgia-Pacific #45 Sprint PCS #55 Schneider Electric/Square D #02 1-800-4-Autism #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker #4 Kodak MAX Film #71 Warranty Gold/Team Realtree 24. Jeff stated later that he talked to Robby before the race and made a point to tell him not to get overly eager and jump the start. Another random tidbit: Drew Blickensderfer (who would later become a crew chief for multiple drivers, currently Michael McDowell) was mentioned during this race. He was a member of Casey Atwood's pit crew and was clipped by Sterling Marlin during a set of pit stops. 26.
