Already on probation w/ the Biffle incident at Bristol, Kevin retaliated and rammed Gibbs' back bumper. Harvick was parked for the rest of the race and sent home. When Kevin came back the next week at Talladega, he showed a much more mature side to himself. 2. Harvick has matured into being a better person, but boy was he a hot head when he started! 6. Third race of the last 6 that he led the most laps. With the laps he led in this race, he exceeded his whole 2001 total. 12. The options were pink, purple or aqua and the brand heavily advertised it with its NASCAR team, Ken Schrader ran several races in a multicolored scheme featuring all three colors mixed with his normal yellow then ran a solid-colored car of the vote's winner at Bristol in the fall. 13. StenhouseFan17 posted: 01.05.2014 - 1:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bobby Labonte grabs his first win of 2002 and his first Cup win on a short track. Labonte used the track position he gained after Tony Stewart and Bobby Hamilton opted to pit late in the race. Jeff Gordon was the best car early in the race, but a broken power steering pump cost him multiple laps and ended his chances at the win. Gordon drove the rest of the race (just a little under half the race) with no power steering. Jerry Nadeau was on stand-by to relieve Gordon, but it proved unnecessary. In fact, Gordon was one of the fastest cars late in the race. Tony Stewart led the bulk of the middle of the race and reclaimed the lead late, but as mentioned above, pitting late put Stewart back in traffic. Stewart could only recover to 3rd. Bobby Hamilton had a good run in the Andy Petree #55, leading several laps, but was unable to navigate the traffic late and eventually was in a wreck that brought out the final caution (though it is not noted in the caution summary here). Terry Labonte, Ricky Craven, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Rusty Wallace, Jerry Nadeau, and Ward Burton also took turns at the front. Labonte, Earnhardt, Jr., Wallace, and Burton parlayed these good runs into respectable finishes. Craven was involved in two separate accidents with Jimmy Spencer, relegating him to a 30th place finish. Nadeua fell out of the race with mechanical woes. Also of note, all four Roush cars finished inside the top 10. Hut Stricklin and Stacy Compton kept the fenders fairly clean to secure rare lead lap finishes. 19. childhood memories posted: 05.28.2014 - 6:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I can still remember the crowd booing Gordon during intros and chanting we want Brooke 20. Harvick gets suspended for spinning someone at the slowest track in NASCAR, and yet people have intentionally wrecked each other at high speed tracks like Daytona (Tony Stewart), Talladega (Danica Patrick), Atlanta (Carl Edwards), and Texas (Jeff Burton) without being suspended. It took Kyle Busch's fourth or fifth intentional wreck of the year in 2011 for him to be suspended after he turned Hornaday head-on into the wall and ruined his chance to win a championship. But Harvick gets it just for spinning out one guy at a SHORT TRACK? In that case, every driver who has ever been involved in a temper flaring incident at Martinsville (which is almost every driver in NASCAR, ever) should be suspended for a race. 22. He was on the lead lap when he wrecked in turns 3 and 4 with 2 to go and collected Kyle Petty. His car came to a rest on the curb near the exit of turn 4, remaining there for the final two laps and never refiring. 25. Had he not been on probation he likely would not have been suspended. 28. RaceFanX posted: 12.23.2016 - 1:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bobby Labonte scores his last win in a Pontiac. Scott25 posted: 01.16.2019 - 11:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Harvick retaliating had nothing to do with him getting suspended. That resulted in him being parked from the Truck race. What got him suspended was after being parked, he drove into the infield, parked his truck directly in front of the doors to the NASCAR hauler, got out, and left it there. No one has ever pulled a move like that before or since 31.
