A week after Dale Jr. bruised his ankle in California, he's running a good race was racing Jeffy clean when Jeffy decided to drive Junior into the turn 1 wall driver's side. WHAT AN IDIOT GORDON WAS!!! He should've been penalized. 2. Everyone who does that should be penalized! He didn't bruise his ankle at Fontana, he had a serious concussion that impaired his judgment and ability in a race car for quite a while and shouldn't have even been racing. 3. newman posted: 05.19.2005 - 8:51 pm Rate this comment: (2) (2) dale jr shouldnt be racing 4. In part thanks to a poor coat of sealer, the race turned into a wreckfest, with more than 1/4 the laps run under yellow. 6. Steve posted: 04.06.2006 - 10:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think it was during the Bristol race that Rick Mast had come to pit road because he was fatigued. It's unfortunate that his career was cut short due to carbon monoxide. He did compete in the Winston Open a couple of weeks after this race. Also a great run all race long for Steve Grissom in the Pettys' #44. 8. dalejrfan14 posted: 05.25.2006 - 8:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) newman i am mortified at your comment!Newman shouldnt be racing in NASCAR!With all those dnfs and such. 9. Dale Earnhardt Jr has 88 Busch Series starts and 14 DNFs; a finishing rate of 84.091%. Ryan Newman in 28 starts has just 2 DNFs; a finishing rate of 92.857%. I'm not putting down Dale Jr, just stating facts. Speaking of facts, Hermie Sadler's best career finish came in this race (18th), and Truck Series journeyman driver Randy Renfrow made his only Winston Cup start. 11. It was a fun day of tailgating during the day before the race and the atmosphere was definitely far more fun than the races I've been to at Cali Speedway(my home track). Any race is good, but tailgating beats taking the train to the race like I do to Cali. This was the 2nd time I'd seen Tony win a race and the 1st in a Cup car. I'd seen Tony win the Turkey Night Grand Prix at the local Irwindale Speedway(1/2 miler) in 2000. All in all it was a good race, but the sealer issue did lead to mostly a 1 groove race track that had many drivers pissed off. My friend was a Rudd fan at the time and was also none too happy with Rusty when he cut a tire and put the leading Rudd into the wall right in front of us. We didn't know it was a blown tire at the time; so my friend was calling Rusty all sorts of names. Hahaha. I hope to see Tony get another win soon in a race I am at. Go Tony Go!!!!!!!!! ;) 12. GJinVA posted: 08.25.2008 - 3:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Johnson wasn't a lap down, he was battling for the lead when he wrecked Spencer. Ricky Rudd had this race in the bag and blown tire or not I never forgave Rusty for this one. He and Spencer were the class of the field once Ward Burton faded and started having problems. The results of this race in no way reflect who was actually running up front all day, but sometimes thats how it goes. What a miserable rain that was the night the race was supposed to be run, though. 19. Anonymous posted: 10.27.2008 - 12:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ward Burton's last pole. 20. I had sunburned pretty bad at the Cali race the week before and then roasted some more when the race had to be finished during the daytime on Sunday May 5th. It was worth it though, as my driver(Tony) won the race. I was on vacation to the East Coast for this race. Had a little stopover in St. Louis before heading back to LA. I think the girl I went to see was pretty mortified by the scary looking sunburn on my left arm, when she 1st seen it. 34. Has a great car, pit stops put him behind then the car broke. Being a Ward fan, then a McMurray fan has taken years off of my life (not to mention thrown out of bars for screaming at the tv when crap like this happened). If Ward hadn't been so loyal to the bastard Bill Davis, his career would have looked more like his brothers, but he turned down a ride at JGR bc BDR still had his contract for another year. Who got the ride instead? Some guy named Tony Stewart. 36. rateus posted: 11.05.2013 - 11:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) To the back - Tony Stewart (engine change), Bobby Labonte (engine change), Joe Nemechek (driver change, qualified by Johnny Benson Jr). 37. 1995z71 posted: 03.16.2014 - 6:54 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) In this race the 3 Dale Earnhardt Inc entries (Dale Earnhardt Jr, Michael Waltrip & Steve Park) painted a single black stripe next to the left headlight decals of their Chevrolet Monte Carlos to protest about the display of leaked autopsy photos of R&B singer Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. A similar controversy had befallen Earnhardt Jr himself after his father's death in the Daytona 500 a year earlier. 38.
