Robby Gordon gave Bobby Hamilton a small bump coming out of the last turn of the race to get 8th (Hamilton took right side tires only with 25-something laps to go). Bobby chased him until he caught him one lap after the end of the race, but I remember Darrell Waltrip saying, "At least he (Robby) was smart enough to know to not slow down!" 6. Pretty gutsy move considering their financial situation. 7. I'll never forget that the seventh-place qualifier started on the pole because 1st, 3rd and 5th all went to the rear because of various problems. 14. He received a standing ovation from the crowd. 15. Evan posted: 02.10.2012 - 10:46 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) * to Tateracing, yeah I hate Jimmie's dominance too, since Jeff Gordon is the man of Hendrick Motorsports as far as I'm concerned, if I had it my way 5-time would be 2-time because he's Jeff's sidekick as far as I'm concerned I have gotten infuriated with him beating Jeff on a daily basis, I'm glad Jeff finally showed Jimmie who's boss at Atlanta in 2011 by beating him outright. * First start of Todd Bodine's shortlived Discover Card 26 car, as Travis Carter made the 66 a part time team and that left Joe Nemechek without a ride until he was picked up by Hendrick Motorsports. Japanese racing veteran Hideo Fukuyama drove the 66 on a limited basis and pretty much stayed outta everybody's way. Racing Champions made a diecast of the car and released in a year later in 2003 as one-off early season car. 16.
