Also, Junie Dolnavey's last start as a car owner in Michigan. 7. Johnson got swallowed up by the cars with fresh tires and fell from 2nd to 14th in 3 laps. 12. I never realized that Jason Small started a Cup race, either. 15. rm posted: 12.08.2018 - 11:19 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Withdrew: Morgan Shepherd, self-owned #89 Life X Program Ford The car failed inspection and the team couldn't make the proper adjustments in time 16. rateus posted: 04.01.2020 - 8:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Presumably Geoffrey Bodine should also be 'To the Back', driver change for his brother Todd who opted to stay in Kentucky to finish (and win) the rain-delayed Busch race. Joe Nemechek and Stacy Compton were both also at Kentucky but chose to come back for the Cup race, with somewhat less success. 17. rateus posted: 04.02.2020 - 4:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Scratch my last comment, Geoff did qualify the #26 as well as race it https://www.crash.net/nascar/news/86216/1/sirius-satellite-radio-400-bud-pole-qualifying 18. Mile501 posted: 05.17.2020 - 7:31 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) An interesting tidbit about this race: When the first caution came out on lap 97, some of the leaders had already started to make their regular green-flag pit stops. Jimmie Johnson was one of them, but he was close enough to leader Dale Jarrett that he was racing Jarrett back to the line to try to earn his lap back. Jarrett's crew chief told him that "the 48 is trying to get his lap back", but Jarrett misheard, thinking his crew chief said "28" instead of "48". Since the 28 was his teammate, Ricky Rudd, Jarrett slowed down because he thought he was helping his teammate, but he inadvertently gave Johnson his lap back. In the end, it probably didn't matter. Johnson was fast enough that he likely would have gotten his lap back on the next caution anyway. He also faded to 14th during the last 3-lap run when a lot of drivers had pitted for fresh tires while Jarrett nearly won. But Jarrett surely regretted that mistake for a while, when Johnson and Jarrett were both contending for the win. 19. Dr. Dick Berggren along with Steve Byrnes and Matt Yocum were the pit road reporters. Chris Myers and Jeff Hammond were in the Hollywood hotel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
