Jones not only scores his best run, but by far the best showing for the struggling A.J. Foyt team. 6. According to the race coverage, the team almost decided not to fix the banged in front bumper the car had when raced there 11. It was very similar to Johnson's 2000 crash. Kenny lost his brakes coming down the front stretch, but instead of going straight into the wall, he spun the car and backed into the wall at pretty much full speed. 13. They were Wallace's Busch team at the time and were experimenting with running in Cup although they never tried to run in it again. Ganassi put road course ringer Pruett in the #41 but didn't put Spencer on the sidelines totally. He added a third car, the #42 (the first time SABCO-Ganassi used that number since Kenny Irwin's untimely death), for Spencer to attempt the race with but it wasn't up to speed and without owner points to fall back on didn't make the race. 14. Still, he won the championship despite not having the best equipment all year. Had Mark Martin not collided with Jimmie Johnson at Talladega, Martin would have most likely won it. 15. Unfortunately Spencer DNQ'd because the #42 had no provisionals but, to his credit, Jimmy stuck around for the race and watched Pruett drive the #41 to a 6th place finish from the pit box. 17. murb posted: 08.15.2014 - 6:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Last win for Gibbs with Pontiac. 18. But also it was before NASCAR said you profanity we will find you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
