The guy is a good drafter, & pretty good on a few select tracks, but he can't hold any of the great's jocks!!!! He climbed out and just sat against the wall with a cigar in his mouth and just watched the car burn. this was after the falling out of him and Ganassi. Classic Jimmy 10. Then Tony Stewart shoves a camera man after a race in which he dropped like a stone from 5th to 12th at the end of the Brickyard 400, but in Tony's defense anybody would be angry if they had a surefire top 5 car turn into a 12th place or so car. As much as I would want Mark to win the title Tony had a better year and Mark Martin could not find victory lane if he had a bloodhound those last few races and the crash under the pace laps at Talladega was a blow. Still, Stewart had a lot to overcome but he managed to stick to racing and Greg Zippadelli was able to keep Tony's eyes on the Cup. To add to that Stewart went a lap down early in this race which made him race to get back to the lead lap and he got back on the lead lap after lap 27. --Several DVDs have been made about this season's race. The first was a documentary called Tony Stewart:Smoke which details his championship season and it was narrated by Tony Stewart's close friend Kid Rock. Also this was in the 2002 Winston Cup Year In Review DVD. 26. kup posted: 05.24.2012 - 1:09 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) UPS - Universal Points System - after all races of 2002 Cup Points for a driver = His Distance /devided/ His Average Finish Dis/AvFn = Driver = KM-Miles / AV-FN 1135 Mark Martin 13841 / 12,2 1048 Rusty Wallace 13827 / 13,2 1043 Tony Stewart 13137 / 12,6 1031 Jimmie Johnson 13918 / 13,5 961 Jeff Gordon 13554 / 14,1 27. His championship was squarely on the shoulders of Jimmy Fennig and his expertise, I give him full credit for Kurt's championship as well as Kurt himself. I even liked the yellow and red car that he drove for this race, modeled after the Little Tike cars. 30. It was like an hour long and simply pieced together all the big moments and highlights of the year, and in particular, I remember the end credits rolling with highlights to the tune of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire", except the lyrics were changed to go with the big highlights of 2002. Anyone else remember that? I haven't seen a single video of that show online (nothing on YouTube). 43. The flat version of this track had a very narrow groove, which Michael Waltrip complained about after he crashed. And having just re-watched this race, it felt like it lasted forever, with lap times nearly as long as they are at Michigan or Fontana. Jimmy Spencer's crash cost the #41 team a spot among the top 25 in owner points. Elliott Sadler's #21 team took their place. Spencer was having a great run in 3rd place when he crashed. Greg Biffle was giving the Petty #44 a great run inside the top 5 throughout the first half of the race before they started to have some kind of problem under the hood. Andy Petree's team went out on a high note, finishing 10th with Bobby Hamilton in their last race (aside from a couple one-off appearances in 2003). It's a shame that organization couldn't put together steadier sponsorship. Also, it was mentioned during the broadcast that this was the final race for longtime RCR pit crew member Danny "Chocolate" Myers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
